Substation

so the gig was a suckfest and i've never wanted to leave a gig so badly. the place was small and stuffy. though i have to say i enjoyed Allura's set. i dunno if it was cos we were making fun of the Bewitched-esque girly girl lead singer or that i really enjoyed their music and their cohesion. they were good, nonetheless. oh and ants pants and drummer boy look so cute together awwwww. and he was the only good thing in Aphonia, good lord.

anyway, here are pictures. i didn't really take any pictures of the performances. yeaaaaaaaaaah so funny right considering i was at a gig.

in chronological order:

yes by the time it got to 'Withered Tree' i surrendered. and started taking pictures of people's feet.

but it was good to see you peeperls againz. =D

Cosmic revelation number 2

cosmology is beautiful.

you know what i realised after watching 'The Universe - Beyond the Big Bang' last night? The explosion that occurred 13.7 ± 0.2 billion years ago gave birth to the chemistry of life right? therefore, the aftermath of the Big Bang has us all connected to each other biologically, to the Earth chemically and to the Universe atomically.

actually this is kinda like my previous revelation. more like version 1.2.

yeah uh that's about all i wanted to blog about.

DAMN YOU, SO SMELLY.

i only have one thing to say.

DR. ROSEMARY "SO SMELLY" CHAI IS IMPOSSIBLE.

FREAKING IMPOSSIBLE.

to everyone who has read Harry Potter, she's the Dolores Umbridge of the muggle world. she has that SAME annoying high-pitched laughter and that SAME phony sweetness about her, just like JK Rowling describes in the books. i only wish centaurs would take her away so that i wont have to hire a hit man.

when a student merely suggests that a teacher put up the lesson's powerpoint slides after each lesson, you, as a respectable teacher or rather human being, do not reply him with a 'first of all, i don't want students telling me what to do.'

no seriously. she and her stupid fake, putting-'R's-in-words-that-don't-require-them-so-that-she-can-slurrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr-them American accent should find a new dictionary that properly defines what a 'communications scholar' is. cos the one that she has probably just tells her to narrate from her slides in class and to digress with painful anecdotes that only she finds funny.

and as if she's trying to show everyone how American she is, she can go on AND ON about American politics and how Obama should win cos Hilary Clinton is 'like olllld neewwssss...'. she even questions this American guy in class just to see how much he knows about what's going on. she SAID it her damn self. and the way she wears her hair... oh help. she twists her fringe in this god-awful coif and secures it with a big clip at the top of her head and puts her short frizzy hair in a ponytail at the side of her head.

the hate for her is rapidly diffusing through the BAC cohort and i think everyone's having fun dissing her really. i know i do. although we hate her classes, 'at least we can bitch about her', in the words of Barney. haha.

and ONE MORE TIME she calls me 'Felicierrr'...

(and yeah, i removed the 'Disclaimer'. i just realise that i dont need one)

Cosmos

you know what is so unbelievable befuddling that it's such a wonder to me?

how everything around us, EVERYTHING - from the lint in your belly button to the material of your mailbox - comes from the evolution of space and time. our galaxy, or our whole world, rather, was said to be created when there was a massive explosion, interspersed with many collisions and 'fusions'. everything on our blue marble of a planet originated from somewhere in space. EVERYTHING.

has anyone ever thought of that? we have almost anything at our disposal. and absolutely every bit of matter we have here came from some 10 billion to 20 billion years ago.

i had a revelation i just had to share. so... yeah. haha. it was a childhood dream to be some sort of a space person. you know, work in NASA or something. haha. positively addictive, this cosmic stuff.

oh another interesting fact i got from a book: did you know that Io, one of Jupiter's four moons, has so much volcanic activity (endless, really) on it that it's turning itself inside out at a rate of 1cm every 3000 years?

more space trivia next time!

like omg right i know. but i like.

8

my mom and dad recently celebrated their birthdays (yeah same day, so cool hor) at Triple3 Meritus Mandarin and was it a fun night. in the middle of dinner, musicians came down to serenade the crowd. my sister thought i'd be funny to invite them over to our table to sing 'happy birthday' to my mom and dad. and they did. SO FUNNY. i've never seen my mom so paiseh.

my mom told my dad to blow out the candles together. he said ok but he pretended to do it. and this was his face. HAHA.

yay!

Aphrodisiac

watching Nigella's show on tv turns me on. is that wrong?

her food just looks. so. freakin. good. cos she puts so much chocolate in her cakes and, you know, whatever that needs chocolate. and while pouring in the already seductively smooth chocolate mixture onto her cake, she goes 'mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm... deep pleasure... deep deep pleasure...'

i'm not the one with the problem.

Happy '08!

well, not really since i woke up with my whole body aching. the pain stemmed from my feet. note to self: dont wear ballet flats to walk long distances.

me = VERY stupid.

but that aside, i had my usual warm family gathering. i think my sister's neighbours are going to lodge complains very soon. everytime we have these gatherings we make an insane amount of noise. in fact, the residence directly below us came up to tell us to keep the stomping noises down cos his new born baby wont stop crying. whatever. it's not like we are noisy EVERYDAY. and it was a new year's party. what the hell is your problem?

anyway, some jolly pictures to shoo away the bad chi:

everyone loves Wii-ing. haha

the first meal of '08 was prata!

Hope this year'll be better than the last for everyone. =)
